I put together a video of how to make this delicious Deep Fried Meatball. They’re best served with beer.

In the past two months I have been cooking and experimenting some cooking recipes. One of those is the delicious deep fried meatball. Deep fried meatball is one of the most-loved food in Indonesia.

Ingredients:
500 grams of Mince Pork
370 grams of Sago Flour (Tjap Orang Tani brand is very recommended)
4 Eggs
1 tablespoon of Cooking Salt
1 teaspoon of Ground Pepper
2 tablespoon of Light Soy Sauce
Cooking oil for deep frying (Canola oil is recommended)

I normally use the KitchenAid Mixer to help me making the meat dough.

How to cook:
1. Put the mince pork in the mixing bowl along with the eggs, cooking salt, ground pepper, and the light soy sauce.

Mixing the ingredients

2. Turn on the mixer engine to mix the ingredients at the step 1.

3. While the mixer is still mixing the ingredients, slowly add the flour to the mixing bowl.

4. Once they are mixed nicely, prepare the deep fried pan and add the cooking oil with half heat. DO NOT use the full heat as it will only cook the outside, and the inside will still be raw.

5. Make a ping-pong size meatball from the meat dough. The trick is using your left hand. Take about a handful of the meat dough on your left hand and squeeze the dough to produce a ping-pong size of meatball in between your index finger and your thumb, and scoop it with a tablespoon. Sub-merge the meatball in the half-heated cooking oil.

Tips & Tricks:
5.1 – Make sure they don’t stick to each other. Always try to separate them if you notice some of them are sticking to each other.
5.2 – You do not need to flip / turn the meatball during the frying process. It will turn automatically. This is based on the assumption if you mixed the ingredients properly.
5.3 – If you can see your meatball cracks open, do not panic – it is actually a good sign.

6. Once the colour turns golden brown, you may take them out from the frying pan and dry out the oil (see below image).

7. Prepare a paper towel in an aluminium bowl, and place the cool down meatballs into the bowl.

Ready to serve

8. Ready to serve. It is best to eat it by itself or deep it with spicy condiments like sambal or chili sauce.

If your meatballs still keep inflated after they’re cooled down, it means it is a successfull attempt.
