Indonesian food is one of my favorite country food and one of the greatest cuisines in the world. In my perspective, I’ll tell you why.

1. Sambal is our nationality

Most Indonesian food is meant to be spicy. We love sambals like crazy. We even eat a fresh chili just like that with any food.

2. We cook almost everything with sambal

Sambal is our number one condiment in any Indonesian food, and we often cook vegetables with sambal to enrich the flavour.

3. Everything must come with rice

It is not Indonesian food if there is no rice. We believe in these words “Kami belum makan kalau belum makan nasi”. It means “We have not eaten yet when we have not had rice”.

5. Peanut sauce is our second nationality

In some part of Indonesia, we love to submerge our food with peanut sauce. We are not just talking about peanut sauce for satay’s dipping sauce. It is usually used in the entry, such as deep fried tofu, siomay, rojak, and many more.

6. We proud of our tempeh

Whether you are a veggan or not – tempeh is the most-loved traditional food in Indonesia. It is made from soybeans with a careful fermentation process that binds the soybeans into a cake form called tempeh.

Different etnic groups offer different variety of food, but we have one similarity – that is satay. Depending on where they live and their geographical locations; a satay can take in so many forms and flavours.

9. Our coffee is well-respected worldwide

Although coffee isn’t originally from Indonesia, but our local coffee harvest is very well-respected worldwide. The arabica and robusta are the top coffees in our country.

10. Our tropical fruits are so delightful

Our country is right at the equator line that makes our country warm and humid. That is what makes us a tropical country. Our fruits are abundant and colorful too.
